In 2021, 20.98 percent of the suspects screened were found to be suffering from tuberculosis. However, in 2025, the same ratio has come to just 4.75 percent. Although the total number of patients seems to be stable at around 2 lakh, the public health department said that due to extensive screening, it is now easier to detect patients in the very early stages.

Earlier TB patients lived undiagnosed, which was dangerous for the society. With more than 45 lakh people now being immunized, ‘hidden’ patients are coming to the fore. Screenings have increased by 1 million and the state is now moving towards the final stage of TB eradication, the figures show.
