Shatrughan Sinha again spoke on Sonakshi-Zaheer’s marriage, said- ‘What will Qazi do when brother-in-law and wife agree?’

Shatrughan Sinha on Sonakshi Marriage to Zaheer Iqbal: Veteran Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha has once again come out openly in support of the marriage of his daughter Sonakshi Sinha and son-in-law Zaheer Iqbal. In a recent interview, he not only defended this interfaith wedding, but also described it as a strong relationship based on mutual understanding, respect and happiness.

Recently, during a conversation with a media house, Shatrughan Sinha said in his frank style that for him the happiness of the family is paramount. He said in clear words that he has full faith in his daughter’s decision and he is very happy with this marriage. He said, “We are very happy. With Sonakshi’s marriage, it seems as if both of us were made for each other.” He also added that today’s youth are capable of taking their own decisions and it is the duty of parents to support them. In his words, “If the husband and wife agree, then what will the Qazi do? We should stand with them wholeheartedly, like a rock.”

Married under Special Marriage Act

It is noteworthy that Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married in the year 2024 under the Special Marriage Act. This law allows people of different religions in India to marry without religious conversion. Being a high-profile celebrity couple, their marriage attracted a lot of attention amid the ongoing debates about inter-religious marriage across the country.

Decision of marriage after long relationship

Sonakshi and Zaheer first met in 2016 during a party, which was hosted by Salman Khan. From here the friendship between the two started, which gradually turned into a deep relationship. After being in a relationship for about 7 years, both of them decided to get married in 2024. During this period, they were seen together many times and their bonding was also discussed on social media.

Chemistry strengthened with ‘Double XL’

In the year 2022, both of them worked together in the film Double XL. The audience liked their on-screen chemistry in this film and their closeness was clearly visible in real life too.

Father’s strong support amid criticism

When the news of their marriage came out, many types of reactions were seen on social media. However, even at that time Shatrughan Sinha stood firmly in support of his daughter and son-in-law. He had said in an earlier interview that his family was targeted unnecessarily. In his words, “We have seen big crises in life, this is nothing.” He also clarified that inter-religious marriage is not a new thing and it has been unnecessarily made a subject of controversy.

Shatrughan Sinha also expressed confidence that Zaheer Iqbal will take full care of his daughter. He said, “Her happiness is our happiness. We are happy to see her happy and I am sure that Zaheer will always keep her happy.”
