To prevent any damage due to lightning falling on it, a lightning rod has been installed at the top of the tower. In such a situation, whenever there is a storm in the surrounding areas of Dubai, this rod attracts the lightning towards itself, due to which the lightning does not fall anywhere else and cause harm.
