Disney’s Beloved Fantasy Movie Gets Concerning Part 3 Update

Despite Disney having greenlit Hocus Pocus 3 some time ago, the threequel seems to have entered a limbo state at the entertainment company. During a recent sit-down, some of the original cast of the fan-favorite fantasy flick opened up about the progress on the next installment in the franchise, delivering a disappointing update for fans hoping to see the sequel soon.

At the recently conducted MegaCon Orlando, Collider‘s Maggie Lovitt moderated a panel that featured four members from the cast of 1993’s Hocus Pocus. During the discussion, the topic of another sequel came up, but could only draw mixed-to-disheartening reactions from the actors.

Omri Katz, who played Max in the original movie, addressed the prospects of the third film by saying, “Your first question about Hocus Pocus 3, as far as I know, there is a development deal, and that’s all I think we know.”

Thackery Binx’s voice actor, Jason Marsden, shared a similar update, stating that the recent change in Disney‘s upper management seems to have stalled progress on the project. “It was announced that it was greenlit,” he said, adding, “We have not been contacted, and then you all know this new CEO with Disney, which means things are going to change even more. We don’t know the life of this. If they do it, and they invite us, absolutely. I think we’d all like to do it again, totally.”

Notably, it’s been three years since Disney announced plans for Hocus Pocus 3. In the time since, franchise lead Bette Midler has provided several positive updates regarding the movie’s script. However, there’s been no official word on the plans for Part 3 since new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro took over the position from Bob Iger.
