RR reserved Rs 10 crore for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, fielded 6 feet tall fast bowlers to test him
At the age of just 15, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made his own identity in Indian cricket. His achievements at such a young age seem like those of an experienced player. At the age of 12, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Bihar, which was a big achievement in itself. After this, at the age of 13, Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.
Suryavanshi came into headlines overnight
The very next year, at the age of 14, he created a sensation by scoring a century in 35 balls while playing in the IPL and came into the headlines overnight. His explosive inning of 175 runs in 80 balls in the final of the Under-19 World Cup made him the best player of the tournament. Now he is busy preparing for his second IPL season, where expectations from him are higher than ever. It is not easy to handle this level of pressure at such a young age, but Suryavanshi’s talent makes her special.
Rajasthan Royals Cricket Director Zubin Bharucha had an idea of his ability during the trials held in October 2024. He advised the team management to reserve a huge amount of money for this young player. Although Delhi Capitals also showed interest in the auction, Suryavanshi joined the Rajasthan team for Rs 1.1 crore. Zubin Bharucha had instructed the auction team to set aside Rs 10 crore for this biggest talent of Indian batting in the last several years.
According to Bharucha, the same special thing was seen in Suryavanshi which he had earlier seen in players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson. His batting impressed everyone during the trials. Even in front of fast bowlers, his confidence and shot selection looked very mature. In the beginning, he released the balls wisely, which shows his technical understanding.
Aggressive batting is Suryavanshi’s strength
However, his real strength is his aggressive batting. Hitting a straight six on a ball with a speed of 157 km per hour during the trials shows his extraordinary talent. Playing such shots on such a fast ball is challenging even for big batsmen.
Suryavanshi has performed brilliantly at the junior level in the last few months, but now the real challenge is in front of her. In IPL 2026, he will have to face the best bowlers in the world, who will have analyzed his game in depth. In such a situation, they will have to constantly adapt and improve themselves. He faces a big test at such a young age, but considering his talent, it is expected that he will meet this challenge.
