List of English Commentators IPL 2026 Season
English Commentators IPL 2026: Commentary is a massive part of sports broadcasts. Back in the days of radio being the primary source of entertainment, commentary was essential for any sports broadcast. That tradition transferred to television. While we have visuals of any game we watch or stream, listening to experts comment on it is still a deeply ingrained part of any sports broadcast.
In the modern day, commentary is available in several languages for fans all over the world. The Indian Premier League broadcasts in over a dozen languages around the globe. And for such a long and arduous tournament, a massive team of experts and commentators is required to cover every second of the biggest T20 league in the world.
Now that we are mere days away from IPL 2026, Star Sports has announced the English commentary team for the tournament. A list of 27 people will be a part of this cast, most of them being well-known by cricket fans.
There are several IPL legends part of the English commentary team. South African batter Faf du Plessis is a two-time IPL champion with CSK and played for the DC as recently as last season. His fellow South African AB de Villiers is among the greatest white-ball batters of the 21st century and an RCB legend.
English icon Kevin Pietersen will also be part of the team alongside World Cup-winning captains Michael Clarke and Eoin Morgan. And so will Dale Steyn, one of the fiercest pace bowlers in the history of the sport. All these players have previously played in the IPL.
Other overseas players part of the commentating team who also played in the IPL include former Australian captain Aaron Finch; four-time IPL-winning fast bowler from New Zealand Mitchell McClenaghan; and Aussie legend Simon Katich.
There are also former Indian Cricket Team players who will commentate in English during IPL 2026 who have previously played in this competition. These are former ICT spin bowler and experienced commentator Murali Kartik and former IPL champion Abhinav Mukund.
There are more former players of the Indian Cricket Team, some of them absolute legends of the game. These include one of the greatest Indian cricketers ever, Sunil Gavaskar; legendary player and coach Ravi Shastri; wicketkeeper/batter Deep Dasgupta; and 90s-era spin bowler WV Raman.
There are also several international cricketers part of this team, many of whom have since established themselves as greats in the commentary department. On top of that list are names like former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop, former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull, another former Kiwi bowler in Daniel Morrison, and former Zimbabwe cricketer Mpumelelo Mbangwa.
Also, a part of this team will be former West Indies cricketer Daren Ganga, former English spinner Graeme Swann, and former England captain Nick Knight.
Not all former cricketers covering IPL 2026 in English are men, as the commentary team also includes former Indian Women’s Cricket Team player Anjum Chopra and former New Zealand wicketkeeper Katey Martin.
Finally, the team will be rounded off by a couple of legendary commentators. Harsha Bhogle and Alan Wilkins never played cricket at the highest level but have covered the sport for decades at this point. They will be joined by presenter Raunak Kapoor, who will take charge of keeping the broadcast in check.
