Elections spoil Rajasthan’s business game, migration of Bengali workers due to fear of losing votes
Rajasthan News: Lakhs of laborers from West Bengal working in Rajasthan have suddenly started returning to their villages. The main reason for this is the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal. Elections are scheduled to be held on April 23 and 29, and workers are returning in large numbers to cast their votes on these dates.
Why are workers forced to migrate?
The main reason behind this exodus of workers is not only the desire to vote, but also fear and pressure. Many local leaders are warning of stopping ration and government schemes if they do not return to the village. For this reason the workers want to reach their villages under any circumstances.
Rajasthan’s industries affected
This is having a direct impact on the industries of Rajasthan, especially in Jaipur. A large number of Bengali workers work here in sectors like jewellery, tents, mechanical and construction. Due to the sudden departure of these workers, a big problem has arisen for the businessmen.
Local people told the situation
People associated with the jewelery and event industry say that due to shortage of labour, it has become difficult to fulfill orders. The wedding season is at its peak in April and May, hence work pressure is high. But without laborers, work is becoming halted.
How many workers work?
It is being told that about 2.5 lakh Bengali workers work in Rajasthan. To meet their shortage, many businessmen are trying to provide extra money, advance salary and better living facilities to the workers. Despite this, the workers are adamant on their decision to return to the village.
Women also demanded leave
Women of West Bengal engaged in domestic work have also increased their demand for leave. Cooks and house helps working in many homes are also preparing to go to the village. They too are under pressure from family and village to vote.

Many workers are leaving even with advance money
The situation is such that many workers are also taking advance money from their employers. Heavy crowd and long waiting are being seen in trains. Some laborers have even booked flight tickets so that they can reach their villages on time and cast their votes.
