In fact, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju said on Friday that the government’s decision is a big relief for every citizen. They have ensured that there is no additional burden on the common man, and have also reduced the pressure on the oil companies. “A huge relief for every citizen. Under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) ji, the government has reduced the excise duty on fuel; the duty on petrol has been reduced from ₹13 to ₹3 per litre, and on diesel it has been reduced from ₹10 to ₹0,” he wrote in the X Post.

He further wrote, “Despite the increase in crude oil prices due to the West Asia crisis, we have ensured that there is no additional burden on the common man, and at the same time have reduced the pressure on the oil companies.” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Twitter, “A decisive step by PM Narendra Modi (@NarendraModi) ji, to save 140 crore Indians from global turmoil!

“Despite the turmoil in global energy markets due to the West Asia crisis, the central government has ensured direct price relief by cutting excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per liter respectively. By imposing strategic export duty on diesel and aviation turbine fuel while giving priority to domestic supplies, the government is ensuring that India’s growth engine runs uninterrupted,” Goyal wrote.

The Commerce and Industry Minister further wrote, “This is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Modi government to make ‘Ease of Living’ a reality for every household. Whatever the global challenge, the interests of our common citizens always come first!”

Let us tell you that the decision of the Center has given a big relief to the oil companies, but the VAT of the state governments will remain applicable. The common people will get direct benefit from this only when the companies reduce the prices of petrol and diesel.
