Boasting a massive following of 30 million across social media platforms, Lehmann is one of the most famous female footballers on the planet. While her attractive appearance has made her a recognizable figure off the pitch, it has also sparked prejudice regarding her professional abilities.
Two years ago, Lehmann and her then-boyfriend, midfielder Douglas Luiz, made headlines when they departed Aston Villa to join Juventus.
Following a disappointing stint in Italy, the 27-year-old returned to England earlier this year, signing a 2.5-year contract with Leicester City in January, hoping to find her form again.

However her comeback has not gone as planned. Leicester lost their first five matches following Lehmann’s arrival, dropping to the bottom of the league table. Although she recently netted her first goal since returning to England, her team still suffered a 1-2 defeat against her former club, Aston Villa.
After 17 matches, Leicester remains last with just nine points. Sitting three points away from safety, the club are facing a great risk of relegation.
Besides disappointing results on the pitch, Lehmann also faces heavy pressure online. She is frequently dismissed as an “Instagram star” who prioritizes posting photos over training. A part of the fanbase suggests she fails to project the image of a professional footballer.
“When I was younger, it affected me more because I didn’t know how to handle the situation,” she told BBC. “There were moments where I was really sad and I used to ask my mum if I could not play football anymore. Football is the thing I love the most and it’s what I have put the most time into. People don’t know how much effort I actually put in when they say ‘Oh, she’s not a footballer’.”
She emphasized that she has always adhered to a professional lifestyle, prioritizing rest and avoiding anything that could negatively impact her match-day performance.
Born in Switzerland, Lehmann has scored 10 goals in 65 appearances for the Switzerland national team.
Following her split from Luiz in 2025, she is reportedly dating reality TV star Montel McKenzie.
