Japanese retail chain Daiso to shutter second Singapore store within 4 months

Japanese retail chain Daiso, which sells household products at affordable prices, is set to close its second store within four months after operating it for 18 years.

Daiso Sembawang Shopping Centre will cease its operations starting April 6, 2026, Daiso Singapore said in a statement, without disclosing the reason behind the closure.

The store was opened in 2008 and expanded 2021 to include the Threeppy concept store, which offers a range of “cute and fashionable items.”

The move comes after Daiso shut its outlets at 100 AM mall in January and Kinex in Tanjong Katong last July, according to AsiaOne.

As of March 26, Daiso, which is known for charging a flat SGD2 (US$1.56) for its cheapest products, operates 33 stores across Singapore. Prices can go up to SGD20 for specialized items, excluding tax.

Daiso products include housewares, toys, stationery, decorations and gifts.
