Former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal is in Gujarat these days. Kejriwal, who is on a four-day visit before the civic elections, addressed the ‘Vijay Vishwas Sabha’ organized in Dahod on Friday. In the meeting, Kejriwal also mentioned the relief received from the court in the alleged liquor scam case of Delhi. He said that the trial court acquitted him of the charges and said that ‘there is no one in this world as staunchly honest as Arvind Kejriwal.’
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal revealed the vision of his possible governance in Gujarat. He said that if his party comes to power in Gujarat, he will work for farmers, provide Rs 1000-1000 assistance to women, make electricity free and provide good education and employment to children. Giving the example of corruption-free governance in Punjab, Kejriwal said that by ending corruption there, only money came to the state and there was no shortage. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann jailed an MLA from his party who was accused of corruption. Kejriwal further said that generally if a Chief Minister comes to know that his minister is eating money, then he also starts demanding his share. But this does not happen in his party. He clearly said, “If our own relative, any of our relatives commits corruption, he will go to jail.”
I have been accused of scam: Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal exposed the sincerity of his party in the election rally held in Gujarat. Referring to the alleged liquor scam of Delhi and the charges against him, he said that the court declared him and his associates innocent. Kejriwal said, “They accused me. They said that Kejriwal stole, Kejriwal did liquor scam, Kejriwal ate 100 crores. Manish Sisodia ate 100 crores. CBI, ED did so many cases, raided our house, office. Not a single penny was found. They said where did the money go? It must have been kept somewhere. The money, cash, must be in the bank, must have bought some property… nothing was found.” On this occasion, Kejriwal stressed the honesty and transparency of the party, saying that in his party, action is taken against any member if corruption is proven, and he is never afraid of such allegations.
Court said that no one is as honest as Kejriwal and AAP: Kejriwal
Kejriwal said, “A few days ago the court’s decision came. The court has said that the entire case against Kejriwal is false. I am not saying this, the court has said that there is no staunchly honest person like Kejriwal in this world. The court has said that there is no staunchly honest person like the Aam Aadmi Party in this world. The court has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is lying, false allegations were made. Kejriwal was implicated. They kept me in jail for six months, the Chief Minister? Is it a good thing? Liar.” “By making allegations… they kept the Chief Minister in jail for six months and destroyed Delhi.”
The trial court acquitted all 23 accused, including Kejriwal, due to lack of evidence, and also made strong observations against the CBI. But the court did not make any comment regarding anyone’s honesty or dishonesty. Subsequently, the CBI challenged the trial court’s decision in the High Court. The High Court has banned the comments made on CBI during the first hearing, so that the judicial process on the case can proceed properly.
