The magic of Kerala in Victoria, lensed ‘God’s own country’ fairy tale

A piece of Kerala on Tilottama’s chest. The salty air of the Arabian Sea and the green passion of the coconut groves are now at the Durbar Hall of the Victoria Memorial. Today i.e. Friday the special photography exhibition ‘Lenscape Kerala’ started there. Organized jointly by the Kerala Tourism Department and the Victoria Memorial Hall, this exhibition presents a unique collage of the nature, culture and public life of this South Indian state.

According to him, such initiatives will further strengthen the cultural bond between the two states. At the same time, this exhibition will play an important role in encouraging domestic tourism. 100 photos taken by 10 renowned travel and media photographers of India are the main attraction of this gallery.

The exhibition weaves a narrative of Kerala’s jeweled forests, tranquil backwaters and traditional architecture. In December last year, the artists traveled to different parts of Kerala to capture these magical moments. Curated by eminent art critic Uma Nair and supervised by photographer Balan Madhavan, the event took on another dimension. The film captures glimpses of Kerala’s festivals, spirituality, wildlife and the struggles of ordinary people.

Participating photographers include notable names like Saibal Das, Sourav Chatterjee, Kaunteya Sinha, Aishwarya Sridhar, Shivang Mehta and Amit Pasricha. Before Kolkata, the exhibition was well received in several cities across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

This exhibition will continue from 10 am to 6 pm every day till March 29. There is a special masterclass as an added bonus for film lovers. Experienced artists like Balan Madhavan, Manoj Arora and Saibal Das will participate in this class on March 28 from 2 pm to 4 pm. This exhibition in Victoria is a golden opportunity for tourism lovers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Kerala in the mood for a holiday.
