IPL 2026, RCB squad update: Before IPL 2026, the troubles of Royal Challengers Bangalore are not showing any sign of decreasing. On one hand, the team has got a big relief, because Josh Hazlewood has joined the squad, but on the other hand, another big blow has also been suffered.
Actually, it has become difficult for Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara to play in IPL 2026. This can have a big impact on the team’s bowling combination, especially when some players are already out.
IPL 2026: Sri Lanka Cricket’s decision increases difficulties
According to media reports, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has refused to give No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Nuwan Thushara. The board has recently implemented a new fitness policy, under which it has been made mandatory for players to pass stringent fitness tests before playing in foreign leagues like IPL. It is being said that Thushara could not meet the prescribed standards of this test, due to which he did not get clearance. If the board sticks to its decision, it will be almost impossible for him to play in IPL 2026.
IPL 2026: RCB management in tension
This decision has increased the concern of the management of Royal Challengers Bangalore. According to reports, Thushara’s contract worth around Rs 1.6 crore may also be in danger now. However, no official statement has yet come from the franchise or the league on this entire matter.
The team’s troubles have also increased because before this, Indian fast bowler Yash Dayal has also been ruled out of this season. Due to continuous absence of bowlers, the bowling strategy of the team is sure to be affected.
IPL 2026: Thushara out even without injury
Interestingly, Nuwan Thushara has no injuries, yet he failed the fitness test. Sri Lanka Cricket has made it clear under its new rules that only those players will be able to play in foreign leagues who meet the set standards.
