Facelifted Hyundai Exter HX8 On Video For The First Time

It has been a week since Hyundai soft-launched the facelifted Exter in India. With an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 5.79 lakh, it continues to be starting point in Hyundai India’s SUV lineup. The new model has transitioned to Hyundai’s new-age naming system and is available in seven trims- HX2, HX3, HX4, HX4+, HX6, HX8, and HX10. Now a video of the facelifted Exter HX8 has surfaced online.

The HX8 is the second-top variant. At first, the host shows the key fob. It has three buttons- lock, unlock and boot release. He then explains the design in detail. The facelift gets minor changes in its exterior design. Most of the design remains the same.

At the front, gets a Gloss Black strip connecting the LED DRLs that double as indicators. An ‘Exter’ badge can be seen on it. On the pre-facelift model, this used to be placed lower. The front grille has grown in size and gets a slightly different pattern. The front bumper is new and now features a Silver trim along with the integrated faux skid plate. The projector headlamps get Chrome surrounds. Overall, the front looks slightly different from that of the previous model.

Much of the side view remains the same as before. The variant rides on new 15-inch alloy wheels shod with 175/65 tyres. You will also notice thick body cladding that runs along the wheel arches. There is even a Silver element on the cladding. The ORVMs come with integrated indicator lamps. The trim also gets roof rails and a shark-fin antenna.

The rear gets a redesigned spoiler, a restyled applique connecting the tail lamps, updated rear bumper, rear parking sensors, rear defogger and wiper, reverse camera and more. The colour palette has also been revised. Shades like Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte have been added.

The host then shows the boot space. Petrol variants come with 391-litre boots while CNG variants offer 255 litres. The vehicle shown in this video is a petrol-powered unit. The HX8 comes with a parcel tray, boot lamp and a 14-inch spare wheel. The rear seats lack split-folding function.

The video then shows the engine bay. The facelift gets no mechanical changes and continues to offer the same set of petrol and CNG powertrains- 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and CNG with the same as the base. 5-Speed manual and AMT automatic transmission options are available on the pure-petrol versions. The vehicle in this video has the AMT box.

The host then hops inside and shows the space and comfort at the rear. He says that the rear row offers ample thigh support and head room. The interior colour scheme has changed on the new model. It now has a dual-tone Navy and Grey interior. The dashboard even has a Carbon Fibre-inspired trim.

The HX8 trim comes well-packaged. It gets features like an integrated dashcam, automatic headlights, footwell lighting, leatherette-wrapped steering and gear, wireless charger, cooled glovebox, electrically folding ORVMs, cruise control, automatic climate control, foldable driver-side armrest, Type-C USB ports for rear occupants, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with four-speaker audio, a single-pane sunroof, push-button start, digital instrument cluster and more. So, what features are missing on this trim? Support for over-the-air (OTA) updates, connected car tech, and metal pedals!

The HX8 variants sit in Rs 8.36 lakh-9.41 lakh price brackets, and can be had with both CNG and pure petrol powertrains. AMT option is also available. And finally, the petrol engine makes 83hp and 114Nm and the CNG version has an output of 69hp and 95Nm.
