Iranian attack in Saudi Arabia: Missile-drone hit Prince Sultan Air Base, 10 American soldiers injured, several refueling planes damaged
Washington: At least 10 American soldiers were injured and several planes were also damaged in a missile attack by Iran on a military base in Saudi Arabia on Friday. Two American officials aware of this incident gave this information on the condition of anonymity.
An officer said that the condition of two of the injured soldiers is said to be critical. Officials said that several US Air Force refueling aircraft were damaged in the attack on Prince Sultan Air Base. Satellite photos showing damage to the planes were also shared online.
The attacks by Iranian missiles and drones came a day after US President Donald Trump said Iran was “totally destroyed” and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that “never in recorded history has any country’s military power been neutralized so quickly and so effectively.”
Earlier, the US Central Command had said on Friday that more than 300 soldiers have been injured in this month-long conflict. Most of them have recovered and returned to duty, while 30 are still not fit for service and 10 are considered seriously injured.
This is not the first time that Prince Sultan Air Base has been targeted by Iran. In the attack on March 1, 26-year-old US Army Sergeant Benjamin N. Pennington was injured and died a few days later. He is among the 13 American soldiers killed in this war.
