Spirit of unity can be encouraged through sports: DGP Development Assistance Gujarati

Gandhinagar: The 72nd All India Police Aquatics and Cross Country Championship was inaugurated today by Director General Vikas Sahay, Gujarat Police at Sports Authority of India, Gandhinagar. At the inauguration, DGP Vikas Sahay had said that internal security is the responsibility of the state’s Central Police Force. For which the most important subject is the feeling of unity and coordination. The spirit of unity can be encouraged through sports. Also, when we work together for internal security with this spirit of unity and coordination, we get different results. He also said that the purpose of this championship is to promote physical fitness, teamwork and friendship among police personnel.

Vikas Sahayata had appealed to the players from various states visiting Gujarat to visit the tourist places of the state. More than 704 police personnel in total 27 teams are participating in this championship. In which the states of Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal and Andaman Nicobar Union Territory have participated. 18 teams of State Police and 09 teams of Central Armed Police Forces are participating in the championship. 20 aquatic events have been organized in this championship, which include swimming, diving and water polo. While the cross-country event will be held on a challenging course of 10 km.

On the inaugural occasion of this championship, Additional Director of IB Mr. Rajeev Ahir, ADG Ops, Mr. Vitul Kumar and Mr. Ravidip Singh Sahi, ADG, South Zone, CRPF were present. March past and cultural programs were also organized by the teams participating in the inauguration ceremony.

Various championship events like aquatics events etc. The cross-country event will be held at Sports Authority of India Gandhinagar and SVP Stadium Swimming Pool, Ahmedabad from 24 March 2025 to 28 March 2025. Will be held on 26 March 2025 at Group Center CRPF, Gandhinagar. Also the final and closing ceremony. Will be held on 28 March 2025 at Sports Authority of India, Gandhinagar.
