Show your status to PAK! Commentator left PSL for IPL

PSL 2026: Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) This time it is getting shocks one after the other. First the foreign players stayed away from the tournament and now a big change has been seen in the commentary panel too. Many international players have decided to leave PSL and play in IPL 2026, due to which the problems of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have increased.

The situation became more interesting when England’s experienced commentator Nick Knight also decided to leave PSL and join the commentary panel of IPL. This clearly indicates that the attraction of IPL is outweighing the players as well as the commentators.

Which foreign players left PSL?

During PSL 2026, many big foreign players left the league mid-season. These players joined IPL franchises as replacements for injured players. Blessing Muzarabani left Islamabad United and joined Kolkata Knight Riders. Whereas Dasun Shanaka decided to leave Lahore Qalandars and join Rajasthan Royals. Apart from this, Spencer Johnson also chose to join Chennai Super Kings by saying goodbye to Islamabad United.

Not only the players, but also the IPL’s hold on the commentary team seems to be getting stronger. Nick Knight, who was earlier a part of the broadcast team of PSL 2026, has now joined the commentary panel of IPL 2026. His name appeared in the list released on March 27, where he will be seen commentating along with legends like Ravi Shastri and Ian Bishop.

Why is PSL getting a shock?

This is the second consecutive year when the dates of PSL and IPL are clashing with each other. Pakistan Super League is facing direct loss from this conflict. While IPL has high global brand value and economic attraction, PSL is facing difficulties in retaining its foreign players and talent.

Such withdrawal of players and commentators from PSL has become a matter of serious concern for the Pakistan Cricket Board. This may affect both the popularity and competition of the league. In the coming time, PCB may have to take big decisions regarding its schedule, contracts and brand value of the league, so that it can compete with a big league like IPL.
