Budget of Rs 1.03 lakh crore passed in Delhi Assembly, big focus on infrastructure and health!
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the government’s focus is on creating better infrastructure. He announced that the elevated road on Munak Canal will be constructed with the cooperation of the Central Government at a cost of about Rs 5,000 crore. Also, three new metro corridors are expected to be completed this year, making Delhi the state with the largest metro infrastructure in the country.
Laying special emphasis on the health sector, the Chief Minister said that following the principle of “Treatment is a right, not a favor”, a budget of Rs 12,645 crore has been allocated for the health department.
He informed that the construction of hospitals at Madhavpur, Serajpur, Hadsal and Jwalapuri will be completed at a cost of Rs 515 crore. Health services have been made more inclusive by including the transgender community in the Ayushman scheme.
The government has also announced to provide 56 types of tests for newborn babies completely free of cost under the Anmol scheme. The Chief Minister said that this budget is an important step towards ensuring safe, accessible and dignified health services for every citizen of Delhi, especially children.
