Jewar airport’s long development journey

For the first time in the year 2001, the then Chief Minister Rajnath Singh had passed the proposal of International Airport and Aviation Hub for Jewar Airport. The proposal remained in abeyance for a long time. In 2010, due to the efforts of the then Chief Minister Mayawati, clearance was obtained from the Defense Ministry, but the matter again got stuck citing the proximity of Delhi Airport. During this period, efforts were also made to shift the airport to Agra. After the formation of BJP government at the Center and the state, the efforts intensified from the year 2014. In the year 2015, Akhilesh Yadav expressed his desire to start Jewar Airport and released Rs 5000 crore to Yamuna Expressway Authority. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone to build an international airport in Jewar on 25 November 2021. Now this project is completely ready. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued the aerodrome license for the airport on 6 March 2026.

Strict security arrangements for the inauguration

More than seven thousand policemen have been deployed for security at the inauguration program and public meeting. There will be a complete ban on flying drones around the venue. Uttar Pradesh will become the first state to have five international airports. After the inauguration of Noida Airport, Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the country to have five international airports. Apart from the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will be present on this occasion.
