Operation Sindoor film announced on India’s military strikes

Mumbai: In a major announcement in the Hindi film industry, T-Series, led by Bhushan Kumar, has partnered with I Am Buddha Productions and filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri for an upcoming film titled Operation Sindoor.

The film is based on the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan authored by Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd). It will explore India’s targeted military operations against terror infrastructure across the border.

Film inspired by real events

The makers stated that the film draws inspiration from India’s strategic strikes carried out in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The attack had resulted in the deaths of several civilians, many of them tourists, and had triggered a strong response from Indian forces.

According to the production team, the film aims to present a detailed account of the planning, execution, and impact of these operations, which were seen as a significant moment in India’s military history.

Focus on authenticity and research

Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri emphasised that the project will prioritise factual accuracy and realism. He revealed that extensive ground-level research has been undertaken in collaboration with various wings of the Indian Armed Forces.

He stated that the film will go beyond surface-level narratives and attempt to explain the strategic, operational, and human aspects of the mission.

Agnihotri said the intention is to present a story rooted in truth rather than sensationalism. “My aim is not to create noise, but to confront it with facts, clarity, and the language of cinema,” he noted.

Producer calls it a ‘necessary story’

Bhushan Kumar described Operation Sindoor as a story that demanded to be told responsibly. He highlighted the importance of documenting significant national events through cinema.

“Some stories are not chosen—they choose you. This is not just a film; it is a revelation,” Kumar said, adding that such projects carry the responsibility of portraying events with honesty and integrity.

The collaboration marks the first time T-Series and Vivek Agnihotri are working together on a project of this scale and subject matter.

Growing trend of real-life inspired cinema

The announcement of Operation Sindoor comes amid a growing trend in Indian cinema where filmmakers are increasingly focusing on real-life events, national security, and historical narratives.

Films based on military operations and geopolitical developments have seen rising audience interest in recent years, reflecting a demand for stories rooted in contemporary history.

Industry observers note that such films often blend factual storytelling with cinematic dramatisation to reach wider audiences while maintaining engagement.

Details on cast and release awaited

The makers have not yet announced the cast, shooting schedule, or release date of the film. However, given the scale of the subject and the involvement of major production houses, expectations are high.

Sources indicate that the film will aim for a large-scale cinematic presentation while staying grounded in real events.

Conclusion

Operation Sindoor is expected to be a significant addition to the genre of real-event-based cinema in India. With a focus on authenticity, research, and storytelling, the film seeks to bring a crucial chapter of India’s recent military history to the big screen.

As audiences increasingly gravitate towards content that reflects real-world events, the film could resonate strongly, provided it balances factual integrity with cinematic appeal.
