Congress MP Manish Tiwari’s big statement on reducing excise duty, said – Government is not giving money from its own pocket

New Delhi. Congress MP Manish Tewari on Friday criticized the central government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel. He particularly challenged the statements of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in which he had mentioned the government’s efforts to reduce taxes. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had earlier defended the decision, saying that the government has decided to shoulder the burden on its own finances to protect Indian consumers from rising energy prices across the world. He said that in the last one month, the prices of crude oil have increased from about $ 70 per barrel to $ 122 per barrel, due to which fuel prices have increased significantly in many parts of the world. Responding to the comments of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Tiwari said that I have seen the statement of Hardeep Singh Puri. The revenue that the government receives also comes from the pockets of the common man.

MP Manish Tiwari said that people pay taxes and this is how the government gets its revenue. So if the government has reduced the excise duty, the government is not paying from its own pocket. He further criticized him and said that Hardeep Singh Puri’s statement seems as if he is giving it by taking money out of his own pocket. So if the government has reduced the excise duty, then what is the need to boast about it? Tiwari also expressed concern about the broader geopolitical and economic situation, especially the ongoing tensions in West Asia. The situation in West Asia remains very delicate even after four weeks of conflict. The Strait of Hormuz is still closed. Highlighting the threats to agriculture and food security, the Congress leader said the Kharif sowing season is about to begin. India imports 49 percent of its fertilizers, especially nitrogen-based fertilizers, from the Persian Gulf region. Therefore, it is not just a matter of crude oil and LNG, but it is also a matter of India’s food security. He also warned about the coming months and said that by the time we reach Rabi season. He said Qatar, which supplies about 17 percent of fertilizers to the world, has significantly reduced its production of urea. The reason for this is the closure of its LNG facilities.
