G7 Foreign Ministers meeting in Paris: Sergio Gore meets External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Rubio

Paris, March 28. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in France to attend the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting. On this occasion, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore also reached France to support Rubio. In France, he met Rubio as well as India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. He gave this information on social media platform X. Sharing photos of the meeting, Ambassador Gore wrote, “It was a pleasure to join you in France for the G7 Ministerial Meeting. Had a good discussion with our allies and partners.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in this meeting with the foreign ministers of G7 countries that the US military operation against Iran is going on as per or ahead of the deadline. He expressed hope that its targets would be achieved not in months but in a few weeks. However, the American government has said this earlier also. Rubio said that a clear outline was set from the beginning of this mission. “We will destroy Iran’s navy, destroy their air force. We will basically destroy their ability to make missiles and drones in their factories,” he said.

He added that the aim of the campaign was to “significantly reduce the number of missile launchers” so that Iran would no longer be able to “hide behind them and develop nuclear weapons and threaten the world.” Rubio said progress continues to be made. “We are on or ahead of schedule on this operation and hope to have it completed on time, not in months, but in a matter of weeks. Progress is very good.”

He also clarified that there would be no need for ground troops. These goals can be achieved without any ground troops. Rubio also warned of potential risks following the operation, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil supplies. He said Iran could try to impose a toll system there, which he described as “illegal,” “unacceptable,” and “dangerous to the world.”
