Opening match of IPL today at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, tight security arrangements

Bengaluru. Bengaluru M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is completely ready for the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Taking a lesson from last year’s stampede, this time the police have made strict arrangements to prevent any untoward incident. Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh gave this information.

He told that today there will be a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In view of the match, security arrangements around the stadium have been further strengthened. Bengaluru City Police has deployed around 2,000 policemen. Western Zone Joint Police Commissioner Vanshikrishna has been handed over the security command. A total of seven special squads have been formed. Police personnel will take over duty from noon itself.

This time the IPL tournament will last for more than two months. League stage matches will be played till 24th May, while the final match will be held on 31st May. A total of 10 teams will compete for the title and 74 matches will be played in 65 days.

Taking a lesson from last year’s stampede, the administration has given top priority to security this time and all necessary steps have been taken to conduct the tournament safely. Meanwhile, it has been decided to pay tribute to the memory of the RCB fans who lost their lives in the stampede last year by keeping 11 seats vacant in the stadium. For the convenience of the visitors, Namma Metro services will be available till 2 am.
