LSG IPL 2026 Preview & Predicted XI

Lucknow: Lucknow Super Giants head into the Indian Premier League 2026 looking to bounce back after two underwhelming seasons. Despite making the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, LSG slipped to seventh place in both 2024 and 2025.

The franchise, owned by Sanjiv Goenka, is still chasing its first-ever IPL final appearance. The spotlight will once again be on captain Rishabh Pant, who was signed for a record Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction.

Strengths: Explosive batting firepower

LSG boast a formidable batting lineup packed with international T20 stars. Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran form a dangerous core, particularly known for their dominance against spin bowling.

Pant, despite a below-par 2025 season, remains a match-winner capable of turning games single-handedly. The middle order is further strengthened by Ayush Badoni, while Abdul Samad adds depth and finishing ability.

Weaknesses: Bowling inconsistency a major concern

LSG’s biggest concern lies in their bowling attack. Express pacer Mayank Yadav has struggled to replicate his breakthrough season form, raising questions about consistency.

The franchise has brought in reinforcements with Wanindu Hasaranga and Mohammed Shami, who will be key to stabilising the attack.

Support from Avesh Khan and Shahbaz Ahmed will also be crucial, especially in the middle and death overs.

Can LSG break the jinx?

With a power-packed batting lineup and a refreshed bowling unit, Lucknow Super Giants have the tools to challenge stronger teams. However, their success in IPL 2026 will depend heavily on whether their bowlers can deliver consistently and support the star-studded batting unit.
