Sony increases PS5 prices : Sony has announced yet again a price increase for its PlayStation 5 lineup. The company said that this step had to be taken due to the rising cost of memory chips and other components and global economic pressures. The new prices will be applicable from April 2, 2026.

The revised pricing will be effective from April 2, 2026. The new prices will be applicable in key markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Japan. In the US, both the standard PlayStation 5 and its Digital Edition have increased in price by $100, bringing their prices to $649.99 and $599.99, respectively.

The price of PlayStation Portal Remote Player has also increased from $199.99 to $249.99 (₹23,715).

UK: PS5 £569.99, Digital £519.99, Pro £789.99
Europe: PS5 €649.99, Digital €599.99, Pro €899.99
Japan: PS5 ¥97,980, Digital ¥89,980, Pro ¥137,980

Sony has not taken the name of India in its official announcement, but industry experts believe that prices may increase here also in the coming months. Last year, PS5 prices in India increased by ₹5,000. This time the increase may be higher.

Currently, the price of PS5 Digital Edition in India is ₹ 49,990 and Disc Edition is priced at ₹ 54,990. PS5 Pro has not been officially launched yet, but it was recently spotted on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification website. It is believed that Sony may launch it in India before the release of GTA 6.
