High level meeting of CM Sai on West Asia crisis, noose will be tightened on those doing hoarding and black marketing, strict instructions given to officials
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai on Saturday issued strict instructions to curb hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities in the state. In his CM House in the capital Raipur, he held a high-level meeting with all the Divisional Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police, Collectors and Superintendents of Police of the state through video conferencing in view of the current situation in West Asia. The main objective of this meeting was to strengthen the availability and distribution system of essential commodities in the state so that the general public does not face any problem under any circumstances.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that a special campaign against hoarding has been launched across the state. Under this campaign, rapid raids were conducted at a total of 335 places. During these raids, taking major action in cases of hoarding, 3841 gas cylinders were seized. Also, so far 97 separate FIRs have been registered in these cases. However, officials clarified that the investigation so far has not confirmed black marketing, but the government will keep an eye on those involved in hoarding.
Instructions to take action against those involved in black marketing or hoarding
Chief Minister Sai gave clear instructions to all the officials that strictest action should be taken without any delay against those involved in black marketing or hoarding of essential commodities. He stressed that ensuring uninterrupted availability of services to the general public is the priority of the government and must be maintained under all circumstances. For this, all departments and officers have been asked to work together with team spirit so that any kind of crisis can be faced effectively.
Instructions were also given in the meeting to ensure regular monitoring of storage and supply of all petrol pumps and gas agencies. The Chief Minister said that it is necessary to keep a constant eye on the supply chain so that artificial shortage of any essential item does not arise anywhere. It should be ensured that sufficient stock is available in the market and its prices remain stable, so that consumers do not have to bear unnecessary burden.
The government has issued special instructions to maintain uninterrupted gas supply in important establishments like hospitals, hostels, educational institutions, railways, institutions of the Government of India, military and paramilitary forces, institutions run by the Social Welfare Department and airport canteens. Separate arrangements have been made to ensure that there is no shortage in the availability of gas in these institutions, because their services are directly related to the life and safety of millions of people.
Instructions given for strict monitoring of petrol and diesel supply
Instructions have also been given to continuously monitor the supply of petrol and diesel. Chief Minister Sai asked to maintain special vigilance at border check posts so that illegal activities can be curbed. Along with keeping a strict vigil on the movement of gas cylinders and petrol-diesel vehicles, instructions were also given that petrol-diesel should not be made available in containers to the general public. Fuel in containers will be supplied only to essential establishments operating authorized mobile towers and gensets, so that safety standards are followed and illegal storage is prevented.
Adequate stock of fertilizers in Chhattisgarh- CM Say
During the video conference, the officials told the Chief Minister that adequate stock of fertilizers is available in the state and there is no shortage of fertilizers for the farmers. The Chief Minister directed that there should be an immediate ban on holding of fertilizers and regular review of the daily stock should be done. He also asked to ensure that fertilizers are provided equally to all farmers as per their requirement. Information about software based monitoring was also shared in the meeting to make the fertilizer distribution system more transparent and effective, so that farmers can get fertilizer on time and in the right quantity.
Instructions to keep a special eye on social media
The Chief Minister also directed to continuously monitor the news related to the supply of gas, petrol and diesel. He said that in the current sensitive environment, misleading news can create a situation of fear among the public. Therefore, immediate cognizance of such news should be taken and real and correct information should be made available to the public. Instructions were also given to keep special monitoring of social media and maintain regular communication with media representatives, so that rumors can be stopped and the right message reaches the people.
Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel said that a control room has been set up at the state level to continuously monitor the current situation. Consumers can report any problem, complaint or black marketing related to domestic gas supply on toll-free number 1800-233-3663. This control room will be active 24 hours and immediate action will be taken on the complaints received. The aim of the government is to ensure that the supply system of essential commodities remains smooth in the state and no person can take unfair advantage of it.
In view of the conditions in West Asia, a review meeting was held today at the residence office with top officials of the state, commissioners, IGs and district collectors to review the availability and supply system of petroleum products, LPG and essential commodities.
