Nepal PMO’s first post after 6 months: Thanks to PM Modi

Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Office has made its first post after October 2025. In this post, Nepal has expressed its eagerness to strengthen relations with India while thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kathmandu: Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has posted on social media for the first time after October 2025. In this post, Nepal thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his affectionate message and good wishes. Nepal wrote in the post,

 

‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, thank you for your kind words and warm wishes. I look forward to working closely with you to advance the multidimensional relations between our two countries and the prosperity of our people.

 

This post assumes special significance as it is the first official message from Nepal PMO after a long gap of six months, clearly showing the eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations with India.

PM Modi congratulated the new Prime Minister of Nepal

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated Nepal’s new Prime Minister Balendra Shah on his swearing in as the Prime Minister of Nepal. PM Modi had tweeted, “Hearty congratulations to Shri Balendra Shah ji on taking oath as the Prime Minister of Nepal. Your appointment reflects the confidence placed in your leadership by the people of Nepal. I look forward to working closely with you to take the India-Nepal friendship and cooperation to new heights for the benefit of the people of both our countries.

PM Modi’s message and Nepal PMO’s response indicate that steps are being taken to give new impetus to bilateral relations between the two countries.

Importance of India-Nepal relations

Relations between Nepal and India are deeply linked historically, culturally and socially. The two countries have a long history of cooperation in trade, education, health, energy and infrastructure. Currently both the countries are cooperating on several projects, including hydropower projects, cross-border traffic and disaster management.

Nepal PMO’s post indicates that the new government is serious towards building strong and stable relations with India. Under the leadership of Balendra Shah, Nepal wants to promote economic, social and political cooperation with India.
