India Rejects Report That Elon Musk Joined Modi-Trump Phone Call Over Iran War

New Delhi: India has dismissed reports that tech billionaire Elon Musk had joined a Donald Trump-Narendra Modi phone call earlier this week.

The telephone conversation on March 24 was between the two leaders only, a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson told ANI on Saturday.

The New York Times (NYT) reported that Tesla CEO Musk had joined Tuesday’s call when the US President dialled the Indian Prime Minister to discuss the situation in West Asia triggered by the US-Israel versus Iran war.

“We have seen the story. The telephone conversation on 24 March was between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump only. As has been stated earlier, it provided the opportunity for exchange of views on the situation in West Asia,” the MEA spokesperson said.

According to the NYT, Musk’s involvement in the call was a rare instance of a private citizen participating in a conversation between two heads of state.

The report did not say why Musk participated in the call or whether he actively spoke.
