Missile attack in Abu Dhabi, five Indians injured after being hit by debris, Indian Embassy expressed condolences
Dubai. Five Indians were injured when debris fell around the Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi after a ballistic missile was shot down by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) air defense system before it could reach its target. Local media gave this news on Saturday. Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a post on social media that authorities have confirmed the injuries to five Indian nationals in the incident.
“Relevant authorities appeal to the public to seek information only from official sources and avoid the spread of rumors or unconfirmed information,” the office said. Earlier it had reported that authorities were responding to two incidents of fire around the Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi that were caused by falling debris after a ballistic missile was successfully intercepted by air defense systems.
Earlier on Thursday, at least two people, including an Indian, were killed and three others were injured after they were hit by debris of missiles intercepted by the UAE’s air defense system after falling on a road in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Media Office had said that the second person killed in the incident was a Pakistani national while the three other injured also included an Indian. The Indian Embassy in UAE expressed its “deepest condolences” on the death of an Indian citizen in the incident. “The Embassy is in close coordination with UAE authorities to provide all possible support and assistance,” the embassy wrote on social media platform ‘X’.
