IPL 2026: Explosive innings of captain Ishan Kishan, SRH gave target of 202 runs to RCB
Bengaluru. In the opening match of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has given a target of 202 runs to the host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to win, thanks to the explosive innings of captain Ishan Kishan. In the match being played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB won the toss and decided to bowl.
SRH did not have a good start. Both the explosive openers of the team, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head did not play. Head was out after scoring 11 runs and Sharma after scoring 7 runs. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy also flopped and could score only 1 run. SRH, which had lost 3 wickets for 29 runs, was handled by captain Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.
Ishan Kishan, playing his first match as SRH captain, maintained his form for the T20 World Cup 2026 and scored an explosive half-century. Kishan missed out on a century, but his captaincy innings took Sunrisers Hyderabad to a respectable score. This explosive left-handed batsman played an inning of 80 runs in 38 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 8 fours.
Kishan made a partnership of 97 runs in 53 balls for the fourth wicket with Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen scored 31 runs in 22 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six. Apart from these two, Aniket Verma, who came to bat at number seven, played an excellent and impressive inning of 43 runs. Aniket hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in this innings played in just 18 balls. Due to Aniket’s innings, SRH could reach 201 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Jacob Duffy, who made his IPL debut in this match, bowled brilliantly. He was the most successful and economical bowler for RCB. Duffy took 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs. Romario Shepherd has been expensive. Shepherd took 3 wickets giving away 54 runs in 4 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhinandan Singh and Suyyash Sharma got 1 wicket each.
