Will Jasprit Bumrah play against KKR? MI coach answered the question

If you are a fan of Mumbai Indians, then a good news has come for you. Mumbai head coach Mahela Jayawardene has said that Jasprit Bumrah is back with the team and is available to play in IPL 2026. This news is a big timely boost for MI as they are going to start their campaign against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, March 29.

There was some doubt about Bumrah’s play at the beginning of the IPL 2026 season, because he was not present with the team after the T20 World Cup 2026. The rest of the T20 World Cup team members had joined the MI camp but Bumrah had gone to BCCI’s Center of Excellence. Many thought it was due to injury, but this speculation was soon dismissed as Bumrah was part of a well-planned workload management programme.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has prepared a special strength and conditioning program for Jasprit Bumrah at the Center of Excellence. The aim is to keep him fully fit ahead of England’s crucial white-ball tour of India in July, which includes five T20Is and three ODI matches. While giving an update about Bumrah, Jayawardene said, “Talking about Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah), he is back with the team. He is available to play.”

Let us tell you that apart from Bumrah, MI currently does not have players like Will Jacques and Mitchell Santner. Jayawardene said that this was bound to happen because of the preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026 and he was already prepared for it. He said, “The environment leading up to the World Cup was also very intense. I mean, there was a lot of cricket played. Before that there were some Test series going on and then before the T20 World Cup, there were a lot of bilateral tournaments. The workload on some players was very heavy. It was mostly bowlers who needed an extra week of rest.”
