Mitchell Marsh praised Rishabh Pant, said- Pant’s open thinking creates a positive atmosphere in the team.

New Delhi: Australian T20 team captain Mitchell Marsh praised Rishabh Pant’s leadership abilities and said that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain is open to taking suggestions, which creates a positive atmosphere within the team. LSG has two international captains in Marsh and Aiden Markram.

Marsh said, “The only thing is that you give your best contribution, give every possible support to Rishabh. He is an excellent young player who leads his team well. He is always ready to take feedback and suggestions and also implements them.

“We have some very good leaders on our team who add tremendous value,” he said. It is important for me to contribute where needed. Marsh said that his main goal is to maintain consistency in his performance and have a positive impact on the team. He said, “I will try to maintain consistency in my performance. Last year was very good for me personally and then I maintained consistency. But the most important thing for me is how I can make a positive impact on this team and contribute to winning as many matches as possible.

Marsh also praised the role of team owner Sanjiv Goenka and Pant in creating a positive environment. He said, “I have had a wonderful journey with LSG. Last year the franchise took very good care of me. It seems to be the same this year also. There is a lot of camaraderie within our team and hopefully we can keep that atmosphere going and show people how much playing for LSG means to us.”

Regarding his on- and off-field relationship with Markram, Marsh said that the two have become good friends over time and both performed brilliantly with the bat last season. In IPL 2025, Marsh scored 627 runs and Markram scored 445 runs. “I had a great time with Aiden last year,” Marsh said. We have played against each other many times in the past but you understand someone well only when you play for the same team.” He said, ”When you play together, your bond should be strong both on and off the field. Last year we became good friends.” Talking about his strategy at the top of the order, Marsh said it is important to adjust to the conditions rather than setting difficult targets.

“In some matches you get off to a good start,” he said. I think last year we did well on the power play but you have to play according to the circumstances. You definitely try to make as much of an impact as you can and get off to the best start. But our focus is not on any specific number.
