Is Bad Monkey season 2 releasing in April 2026?

Bad Monkey is one of the most eagerly anticipated comedy series by global OTT platforms, combining a quirky criminal and comedic style with the chaotic comic misdeeds of the irreverent detective Andrew Yancy in sunny Florida. After the successful launch of Season 1which was awarded critical acclaim and has been hailed as a breakout hit on Apple TV+ in 2024, Bad Monkey has a loyal fan following and will be returning this season with continued wild and crazy antics, original episodes, celebrity guest stars, including John Malkovich, as well as offering viewers the same unrestrained blend of dark comedic and heartfelt moments.

There is no word yet regarding an April 2026 release date for Bad Monkey Season Two.

As of late March 2026, Apple TV Plus has not given an official premiere date for the second season of Bad Monkey (premiering fall or later this year). Although filming originally commenced in November 2025 (with some prep work before that), production switched from Miami to Los Angeles after having begun filming. About release dates, the latest information provides little insight, while the March 27, 2026, article mentions that it appears unlikely that spring 2026 will see a new season of Bad Monkey. Speculation at this time seems to be leaning toward either Fall 2026 (or longer than that) or potentially in early 2027 (or later).

Here’s the current status based on reliable reports:

Apple TV+ confirms that a second season for the service will begin in December 2024.

In November of 2025, production is officially underway for Season 2, with new cast members being announced throughout the start of 2026. Some of these new cast additions include John Malkovich, who will be a regular series cast addition, as well as recurring roles for both Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Mo Amer. Vince Vaughn returns as Andrew Yancy and is set to return as the main character in Season 2, but, unlike Season 1, Season 2 will include an original story based on an original story and not the direct adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen book “Razor Girl.”

Knowing that filming is expected to start late 2025, this will leave very little time for post-production on this high-profile comedy-drama. Showrunner Bill Lawrence and others have suggested an estimate of “probably late 2026”, and up until now, nothing has been confirmed regarding a trailer or marketing push for the anticipated early 2026 premiere.

Additionally, speculative articles from other sources (CarterMatt, February 2026; March 2026) continue to state that it is “too early” for that type of confirmation from Apple, and Apple will not rush to announce Season 2 to the public due to other Bill Lawrence projects also being in correlation with each other, as indicated by the referenced articles. Furthermore, at no time has any credible source suggested that April 2026 is associated with the launch date of this upcoming premiere.

While it is known that Season 2 is being actively produced and will come out at some point during 2026, the production schedule suggests there is a very limited window of time to release Season 1 in April. The Apple TV+ audience will have to wait for all announcements through Apple TV+. The timeline for any announcements may continue to shift due to various factors; however, as of this writing, there is no indication of an April release being viable or simply possible.
