Heavy rains in Northeast India by the end of March; Gusty winds from Himachal to Odisha, fluctuating temperatures continue
New Delhi : Currently A drastic change in the environment feeling Heavy rains have started in Northeast India, with the risk of hailstorm in parts of Bihar and West Bengal. Meanwhile, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh touched 41.5 degrees Celsius, while Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh recorded a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius, witnessing a stark contrast in weather.
Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas are likely to experience cloudy conditions with light rain or thundershowers and gusty winds. This may bring some relief in the weather with a slight drop in temperature. Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha have received significant rainfall in the last 24 hours. Delhi, Haryana and some parts of Uttar Pradesh have also received rain.
An orange alert has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya due to the possibility of heavy rains. These areas are likely to receive 64.5 to 115.5 mm of rainfall. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to witness heavy rains and gusty winds. Heavy rains can increase the risk of waterlogging in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas. People are advised to be alert.
Gusty wind and thunder
Gusty winds and thundershowers are likely in different parts of the country. Wind speed may reach 50 to 60 kmph in West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha. Gusty winds are also likely over Assam, Bihar, Telangana and some parts of Rajasthan.
Precautionary advice to farmers
Heavy rain and hail can damage crops. Ensure proper drainage of water in the field and store the harvested crop in a safe place. Nets or covers can be used to protect against hail. Covering small plants and nurseries is beneficial.
