‘If BJP comes to power, we will not be able to eat fish and eggs’, Mamata’s sharp attack before Bengal elections
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, saying that if the BJP comes to power in the state, people will not be able to eat fish and other non-vegetarian food. He made this controversial statement while addressing an election rally in Purulia. Mamata Banerjee claimed that fish is not eaten in BJP ruled states and if BJP comes to power in West Bengal, meat and eggs will also be banned.
Mamta’s sharp attack on BJP
Mamata Banerjee said, ‘BJP is one-sided, they do not believe in any religion.’ He further said, if BJP comes to power, you will not be able to eat even meat or eggs. Fish is not eaten in BJP ruled states.
Accused of attacks on Bengali speaking people
Stepping up her attacks on BJP, Mamata Banerjee alleged that Bengali speaking people are attacked in other states. He said, these people instigate riots. They come to power by instigating riots, they come to power by killing people… Most attacks on tribals, attacks on women take place in BJP ruled states… Our Bengali speaking people are attacked in other states. We do not oppress anyone.

West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will be held on 23 April and the second phase on 29 April. Counting of votes will take place on May 4.
