During the election campaign in Assam, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren made a scathing attack on BJP, emphasized on tribal rights and education.
The campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in Assam is at its peak. In this series, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed a big public meeting in Gosaingaon assembly constituency of Kokrajhar district. He sought votes from the public in support of Frederiksen Hansda and in his address made a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During this period, Soren also explained in detail the major achievements of the Jharkhand government, especially the work done in the field of upliftment of tribal society and education.
Hemant Soren stressed in his speech that this election is not just a medium for change of power, but it is a fight for the pride and rights of the tribal society. Referring to the historical bravery and struggles of the tribal society, he reminded the people that they have to always be alert for their rights. Soren appealed to voters to beware of election allurements. He said that often at the time of elections, attempts are made to woo the public by giving them money power and other inducements, but later behind these inducements lies the deep truth of exploitation. The Chief Minister described education as the biggest strength and appealed to the people to pay special attention to the education of their children, because only an educated society can recognize its rights and fight for them.
Tea garden workers did not get their rights: Soren
In his address, Chief Minister Soren also raised the issue of tea garden workers prominently. He said that these laborers have a huge contribution in the country’s economy, but the irony is that till date they have not got their due rights. Soren alleged that at the time of elections, these laborers are lured with money and made big promises, but as soon as the elections are over, they are forgotten and their exploitation continues. He said that this is a serious social and economic inequality, where the very class which takes the country forward is deprived of basic facilities and a dignified life. Soren stressed that ensuring the rights of tea garden workers and raising their standard of living should be the primary responsibility of the government.
Hemant Soren mentioned Jharkhand model
Referring to the model adopted by the Jharkhand government in the field of education, Hemant Soren said that there has been significant improvement in the condition of government schools in his state. He said that due to these reforms, a large number of students are now successfully participating in competitive examinations and moving towards higher education. Soren highlighted the efforts made especially for the tribal students. He claimed that the Jharkhand government is bearing the entire expense of higher education of the tribal students of the state. This initiative has proved to be a boon for those families who were not able to provide higher education to their children due to financial constraints. With this policy, thousands of tribal students are now able to take admission in engineering, medical, law and other professional courses, opening doors to their future.
The Chief Minister of Jharkhand appealed to the people of Assam that a similar system should be implemented in their state also. He argued that just as the Jharkhand government is educating and empowering its tribal children, the Assam government should also take similar concrete steps for the children of its tribal and deprived communities. Soren said that investment in education is the key to real progress of any society and state. If the level of education in Assam also improves and the government bears the expense of higher education of tribal students, then it will create a new and strong generation in the state which will contribute significantly to the development of Assam in the future and will be aware of their rights.
Hemant Soren made serious allegations against some political parties
In his address, Hemant Soren also seriously accused some political parties of misusing constitutional institutions. He said that these parties only mislead the public with sweet promises and false assurances, while staying away from truth and transparency. Soren said that his aim is only to bring the truth in front of the public, so that people can differentiate between right and wrong and do not get misled. He stressed that the core mantra of his politics is to educate and empower the coming generation. He believes that only an educated and empowered generation can stand strong for their rights, avoid any kind of exploitation or political confusion, and ultimately build a strong and just society. This initiative will not only ensure individual upliftment but will also lay the foundation for a sustainable development for the entire community and the state.
