Bangladesh has understood its status! Ban lifted from IPL 2026 telecast, know why U-turn was taken

The new government of Bangladesh has decided to lift the ban on telecast of IPL. Now every match of IPL will be telecast in Bangladesh also.

Relations between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India had deteriorated after the release of Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The interim government of Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh had banned the telecast of IPL. Not only this, he also refused to let Bangladesh play in India. For this reason, the team could not participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, but now the Bangladesh government has taken a U-turn.

New government formed after general elections

After this, general elections were held in Bangladesh and Tariq Rahman became the new Prime Minister of the country. In such a situation, now the new government has decided to lift the ban on telecast of IPL. That means, after the new decision of the Bangladeshi government, the citizens here will also be able to watch the telecast of IPL 2026. Information and Broadcasting Minister of Bangladesh Government, Zaheer Uddin Swapan said, IPL broadcasters can contact the authorities.

Will not stop for telecast of IPL- Zaheer Uddin Swapan

He further said, “We will not stop anyone from broadcasting the IPL. If Star Sports wants to broadcast it in Bangladesh, they can. If any of our channels want to broadcast, we welcome that too. We do not want to put any pressure on anyone.” He further said that if Star Sports wants to telecast, it can. If any of our channels has to be telecasted, we will welcome it in a positive manner.

Is there any connection with India’s tour to Bangladesh?

Now the biggest question is whether this change in stance on IPL is related to the upcoming tour of India? Bangladesh has to play three ODI and three T20 matches against India at home in September this year. However, the Indian team will travel to Bangladesh only after getting the approval of the Central Government.
