Rohit Sharma, Rickelton Fire Mumbai Indians to 6-Wicket Win Against KKR
A solid knock from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma set up the Mumbai Indians’ 6-wicket victory in the IPL 2026 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at Wankhede Stadium.
This is the first time since 2012 Mumbai Indians have won their first game of the IPL season. Mumbai got their first win of the season and will be aiming to continue their form in the ongoing season.
After being invited to bat first, Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.
Despite a solid start from the openers, Shardul Thakur brought the first breakthrough by dismissing Finn Allen for 37 runs.
With Cameron Green coming to bat at no. 3, he added 18 runs before being dismissed by Thakur.
In the meantime, Rahane smashed his fifty and went on to score 67 runs off 40 deliveries. Shardul Thakur bagged his third wicket, dismissing Rahane in the 14th over.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who came to bat, went on aggressive mode as he smashed 51 runs off 29 deliveries before Hardik Pandya.
With an unbeaten 33 runs from Rinku Singh, Kolkata Knight Riders went on to score 220 runs in their 20-over innings.
Shardul Thakur bagged three wickets while Hardik Pandya completed his spell with a wicket. Mumbai will need 221 runs in their 20-over innings to secure a win in the Sunday clash.
Chasing 221 run target, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma opened the innings for Mumbai while Vaibhav Arora opened the bowling attack.

The opener duo made a solid start, scoring 80 runs in the power play. The MI openers went on to deal with fours and sixes during the chase.
They went on to score 148 runs for the first wicket, where Rohit Sharma added 78 runs off 38 deliveries.
Vaibhav Arora bagged the first breakthrough dismissing Rohit Sharma; however, the damage was done as the Mumbai Indians were way ahead in the game, putting KKR bowlers on tough spot.
The depleted bowling attack was no match for MI’s strong batting lineup. Suryakumar Yadav, who came to bat, added 16 runs before being dismissed by Kartik Tyagi.
Ryan Rickelton, who scored 81 runs, went back to dug out after a runout as Anukul Roy had a direct hit and dismissed the wicket-keeper while attempting for a second run.
