Woman made friendship through dating app; Young man robbed after calling him for a meeting, 5 arrested
Police recovered two cars and five mobile phones used in the crime.
New Delhi, Five people have been arrested for kidnapping a man after luring him through a dating app and then robbing him in Kalkaji area of southeast Delhi. The victim has been identified as Anurag Narula. The incident took place on March 25 when he had gone to Nehru Place to meet a woman with a profile named Sherry through a dating app. He told in his complaint that when he reached the spot, three of the woman’s associates attacked him and forced him into the car.
The victim said that the accused strangled her and forced her to transfer around Rs seven lakh through UPI, ATM and credit card. The accused left her at Nehru Place after the incident and threatened her not to contact the police.
A case was registered against the accused under sections of the Indian Justice Code at Kalkaji police station. The police arrested the accused after they identified the CCTV footage and one of the vehicles used in the crime. The accused have been identified as Rishabh (25), Nabojit Dey (30), Sanjay alias Joy (28), Harleen Kaur alias Jenny (20) and Sahil Chauhan.
During interrogation, Harleen revealed that she lured the victims through dating apps and arranged meetings at various locations where her accomplices would rob them. Police have recovered two cars and five mobile phones from the accused.
