Will Gurjar community be able to belong to Akhilesh Yadav? What message are you giving from Dadri?
Samajwadi Party’s national president Akhilesh Yadav on March 29 sounded the conch shell of ‘Mission UP 2027’ from Dadri Assembly in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. Samajwadi Party has also started laying the chessboard from this assembly. Starting his election campaign from Dadri, Noida, the SP chief has named it ‘Socialist Equality-Brotherhood Rally’. Through this rally, Akhilesh gave the message of strengthening the equations of PDA. It is believed that Samajwadi Party will intensify its election campaign through this rally and will take it to the entire Uttar Pradesh.
This rally was held in the huge grounds of ‘Mihir Bhoj’ Degree College, Dadri. SP did not just choose the name of Raja Mihir Bhoj for the rally, but the future strategy is hidden behind it. Actually, Mihir Bhoj was a powerful Gurjar king from 836 AD to 885 AD. He was a prominent emperor of the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty. He ruled for 49 years.
Mihir Bhoj is highly respected in the Gurjar community. That is why the name of the king is taken with respect in the Gurjar caste. The main attraction of this rally is Mission 2027 but apart from this, the most prominent name in it was that of ‘Gurjar caste’. Samajwadi Party also gave the responsibility of making this rally successful to Gurjar leader Rajkumar Bhati and his colleagues. Through this rally, SP tried to show its political strength on 140 assembly seats spread in 32 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh.

In such a situation, let us know whether Gurjar community will be able to belong to Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party? Will this society vote for SP in the upcoming elections? Also, what message is the SP chief giving to the Gujjars from Dadri?
Why are Gurjars important?
Actually, Bharatiya Janata Party has a strong hold in western Uttar Pradesh since 2014. Most of the seats here go to BJP. This pattern has been seen in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Gurjar caste has also played a role in this victory of BJP. This is the reason why SP and Akhilesh Yadav are trying to win over the Gurjar community to their side to snatch these seats from the hands of BJP.
The party is eyeing more than 100 seats in western Uttar Pradesh. For this, the entire emphasis is on mobilizing Gurjar-Jat along with Muslims-Dalits in our favor. For this, the party had made preparations to gather crowds from more than 30 districts. A large number of people from dozens of districts participated in this rally, due to which a huge crowd was seen in the program.
Trying to woo the voters of Western UP?
Before the assembly elections 2027, Western Uttar Pradesh remains the most important area for political parties. A day before this, on March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a big rally in Jewar, Noida and attacked the Samajwadi Party. Also accusing the previous SP government of taking the district backward, he said that the SP people had made Noida their ATM. The Prime Minister, while attacking the Samajwadi Party in gestures, described the development works as the achievement of his government.

In such a situation, Akhilesh Yadav retaliated against PM Modi’s allegations. Attacking Akhilesh Yadav, he said, ‘Those who were inaugurating the airport must have read the news properly. Even before, airports have been inaugurated in this government, out of seven airports, six have been closed. At least at the time of inauguration of this airport they would have promised that it will not be sold. It seems as if this inauguration has happened only to sell.
This time, both the top leaders of their respective parties have started the election campaign from Noida itself. This is the reason why SP President Akhilesh Yadav tried to appeal to the voters and give a big political message through this rally. He claimed that after this rally, BJP’s graph will start falling in the state. SP called it the beginning of change.
Gurjar caste influential vote bank
Gurjar caste is considered an influential vote bank in the politics of Western Uttar Pradesh. It plays a decisive role in many districts. Gurjar population is considered quite decisive in Meerut, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hapur etc. In many assembly seats their number ranges from 5 to 15 percent. For this reason, Gurjar comes into the role of kingmaker in the elections.
Political inclination of Gurjar caste?
Gurjar community is traditionally seen as associated with nationalist and farmer politics. They also vote on this pattern. Since 2014, their inclination has increased towards Bharatiya Janata Party to a great extent, but at the local level, candidates and caste equations are very important. Gurjar political inclinations have also been changing with time. That means these are not fixed vote banks, but situational voters. Akhilesh Yadav wants to capitalize on this opportunity in his favor.
