Maoist Commander Moochaki Kailash Killed in Sukma Encounter

Security forces killed a Maoist in an encounter during a search operation in the Polampalli area of Sukma district on March 29.

Police identified the deceased as Moochaki Kailash, a section commander of Platoon 31 and a PPCM cadre carrying a Rs 5 lakh reward.

DRG personnel launched the operation in the forest region near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. They engaged in heavy gunfire with Maoists, resulting in the death of Kailash. Police recovered his body along with an automatic weapon and a large quantity of explosives.

Sukma SP confirmed the success of the operation and stated that the recovery of explosives marked a significant blow to Maoist activities in the region. Officials urged remaining Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream, stressing that rehabilitation opportunities remain available for a limited time.

Authorities highlighted that Kailash had been active in Maoist operations for years, commanding a section of Platoon 31. His death represents a major setback for the group’s activities in Sukma and the surrounding areas.

Police registered the case and continued combing operations in the forest to ensure no further threats remained. Security forces emphasised their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
