Trump’s warning to Iran, plan to capture Kharg Island, threats continue even on 31st day of war
air Force One. US President Donald Trump has said that American forces can ‘easily’ take control of Kharg Island, Iran’s major oil field in the Persian Gulf. Trump said this in an interview given to the newspaper ‘Financial Times’. Trump said, “Maybe we capture Kharg Island, maybe we don’t.” We have many options.
He said, “This will also mean that we will have to stay there (on Kharg Island) for some time.” When asked about Iran’s defense system there, he said, “I don’t think they have any defense system.” We can take it over very easily.”
America had carried out air strikes targeting military bases on Kharg Island. Iran has threatened that if the US military steps on its soil, it will launch a ground invasion and new attacks on the Arab countries of the Gulf.
Trump said that the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament has given permission for oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf. This statement of Trump in the interview is being considered as the latest indication of how important Mohammad Baqir Kalibaf is becoming within the religious governance system of Iran.
According to experts, Qalibaf has emerged as an influential and decisive face in recent developments, which has made his role and importance more clear. The US President said, “They gave us 10 tankers with Pakistani flag.” Now they are giving 20 and those 20 have already set sail, passing right through the strait.”
Trump said about Kalibaf in the interview, “He was the one who gave permission to hand over the ships to me.” Remember I said they were giving me a gift? And everyone asked, ‘What is the gift?’ Trump said, ‘When they found out about it, they remained silent and there is a lot of progress in negotiations.’
Iranian leader Kalibaf has shown aggressive attitude through his post on ‘X’ during the war. He has been continuously making fun of America and has also been giving open threats. However, Qalibaf, a former Revolutionary Guard commander, has risen in political prominence in recent days, especially as several senior leaders of Iran’s theocratic junta have been killed in attacks.
