Students took educational tour of Bio-floc Fisheries Technology Center in Nainital
Nainital. On Sunday, on behalf of the Innovation Incubation Center of Kumaon University, students were taken on an educational tour of the Bio-Flock Fisheries Technology Center located in the Department of Zoology. During this, students were given information about modern fishing techniques and self-employment opportunities.
Highlighting the importance of field exposure, Director of the Centre, Prof. Ashish Tiwari said that practical knowledge increases the understanding and skills of the students. Center in-charge Prof. Harish Chandra Singh Bisht said that through bio-floc technology, fish production in large quantities is possible in limited water and small tanks.
Chief guest senior scientist Dr. Suresh Chandra said that India is among the leading countries in fish production and it can be developed as employment by getting financial support under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. He also gave information on the production capacity of species like trout, snow trout and mahseer.
On this occasion, departmental professors gave practical training to the students on fish tanks, feed management and production process. About 60 students including professors of the university participated in the program. Prof. in the end. Bisht expressed gratitude to everyone.
