Shaheen Afridi & Sikandar Raza in Trouble Over PSL Security

The police of Punjab charged two Lahore Qalandar players from Pakistan Super League with severe security protocol violations which occurred when four unauthorized persons entered the team’s hotel room according to ESPNcricinfo.

A deputy police inspector accused Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi and his teammate Sikandar Raza of security guideline violations through their actions which involved “forcefully escorting” visitors to a player room on Saturday night where they remained for almost three hours.

The letter claims that the Qalandars’ Liaison Officer contacted the PCB’s security and anti-corruption manager to request approval for four individuals who were recognized by Sikandar Raza to enter his hotel room.

ESPNcricinfo reports that Qalandars’ Liaison Officer made a request which the security team denied and the letter states that Qalandars owner Sameen Rana approached Salman Naseer for approval. The request received another rejection because of security issues.

The letter alleged that security staff with authority to refuse access to Afridi and Raza who tried to bring in four visitors were stopped by security personnel from entering the facility.

Umar Farooq the Qalandars’ head of media said the team has knowledge about the occurrence which involves two players and they are currently discussing the matter with PSL.

Umar Farooq head of media for Qalandars stated that two Lahore Qalandars players had an incident which the team reported to PSL through their ongoing communication with the organization according to ESPNcricinfo.

The police letter calls for an investigation into the incident while requesting that necessary measures be established to stop future security breaches from happening.

Coming to PSL 2026, Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars are currently sitting atop the tournament’s points table with a win in their campaign opener against Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26. They won the match by 69 runs
