New Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha on Monday that the root cause of Naxalism in the country is not lack of development, poverty and injustice, but ideology. While replying to the discussion on efforts to free the country from leftist extremism, he also said that during the Narendra Modi government, removal of Article 370, construction of Ram temple and many other big works were done and now Naxal-free India is also going to be made during the rule of this government.
Shah said that the wrong narrative was given to the innocent tribals that this fight was being fought to provide them justice and for their rights. He emphasized, “The root cause of Naxal is not the demand for development, poverty and injustice, but ideology.” The Home Minister said that taking up arms in case of injustice is not a democratic way and such activity will never be acceptable during the Modi government.
He said, “The people of Bastar region were left out of government facilities because there was a shadow of red terror there. Today the shadow has gone away and Bastar is developing. Taking aim at the Congress, he asked who is to blame if the tribals remained neglected in development in 70 years?
Shah said that during the Modi government, development also took place in Naxal affected areas. Shah mentioned that many important works have been done during the Modi government and the creation of a Naxalism-free India is also being done under this government. He said that Naxalism and extremism are coming to an end and the entire credit for it goes to the paramilitary forces, especially the Cobra battalion, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the state police and local tribals.
Taking aim at some opposition members, the Home Minister said that an attempt was made to compare Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Lord Birsa Munda with Naxalites, which is completely inappropriate. Shah said that the ‘Red Corridor’ was chosen by the Naxalites because the reach of the administration was less there. The Home Minister said that leftist extremists did not allow development to reach the affected areas, where now the Modi government is taking development to every home.
