Mahavir Jayanti: President Murmu Calls for Adoption of Five Principles

On the eve of Mahavir Jayanti, President of India Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings and best wishes to citizens, especially members of the Jain community.


In her message, the President highlighted the timeless relevance of Bhagwan Mahavir’s five guiding principles — Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (self-control), and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness). She said these values inspire individuals to walk the right path, live meaningfully, and contribute positively to society.

President Murmu noted that Bhagwan Mahavir raised his voice against social evils and showed humanity the way to a better life. She emphasised that his teachings remain deeply relevant in today’s world.

She urged citizens to pledge to adopt Mahavir’s messages in their lives and continuously strive for the progress of the nation.
