Delhi Police organizes Piping Ceremony at PHQ: 145 personnel awarded honorary ranks on retirement

New Delhi: A grand ‘pipping ceremony’ was organized in the ‘Adarsh ​​Auditorium’ of the Police Headquarters located at. At the ceremony, 145 retiring police personnel were awarded honorary ranks under the ‘Honorary Rank Promotion Scheme’. This was the fourth such ceremony since the initiative was launched in December. The ceremony was presided over by Satish Golchha (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Delhi.

He, along with other senior officers, formally honored the retiring police personnel ranging from Constable to Sub-Inspector rank by presenting them with badges of the next higher honorary rank. In his address, the Delhi Police Commissioner extended his warm wishes to all the members of the Delhi Police family present at the ceremony. He said that the happiness and pride visible on the faces of the retiring personnel and their families, inspires us to work even harder and more diligently and makes our courage and resolve even stronger.

He stressed that retirement does not mean the end of his association with Delhi Police; He will always remain an integral part of the police family. Speaking further, Delhi Police Commissioner said that today these police personnel are retiring after rendering a glorious service. Police work is not just a ‘job’, but it is actually a ‘passion’—a passion that inspires hard work, long hours, during 35-40 years of service. He also appreciated the sacrifices made by the families of the police personnel, especially in handling the family responsibilities at a time when the police personnel are engaged in their rigorous and hectic duties.

Retiring police personnel were encouraged to be actively engaged in constructive activities in the service of the nation and society. The Delhi Police Commissioner also wished them a healthy, happy and fulfilling life after their retirement.The personnel who were awarded the honorary ranks included: 10 personnel who graduated from Head Constable to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI); 38 personnel who became Sub-Inspectors from Assistant Sub-Inspector ASI. And 97 personnel who have become inspectors from sub-inspectors. Along with senior officers of Delhi Police, retiring police personnel and their family members also attended the ceremony, making the occasion even more memorable.
