New Delhi. Foiling a major terrorist conspiracy in the capital Delhi, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a suspected terrorist Shabbir Ahmed from the Delhi border on Monday, March 30. The accused are said to be linked to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Many shocking revelations have come to light in the interrogation conducted by the security agencies after the arrest. Shabbir Ahmed has confessed that he was involved in a conspiracy to target major religious places and crowded public areas of Delhi. During interrogation, the accused told that he had done recce of Kalkaji Temple, Lotus Temple and Chhatarpur Temple of the capital. He had sent the videos and other information made during Reiki to his handler sitting in Pakistan.
According to security agencies, the aim of this conspiracy was to spread terror and create communal tension by attacking major religious places. At present the agencies are thoroughly interrogating the accused and are searching for other people associated with his network. Delhi Police and other security agencies have further tightened security in the city. Special surveillance is being maintained at sensitive areas and major religious places.
According to sources, Shabbir Ahmed had also conducted recce of Connaught Place, a busy market area of Delhi. This area is always full of people, hence there was a possibility of large-scale damage due to an attack conspiracy here. Another big revelation has come to light during the interrogation. Security agencies have received information that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba are now trying to establish a new terrorist organization in Bangladesh. This organization is being formed on the lines of ‘TRF’ (The Resistance Front).
During interrogation, it has come to light that he was taking direct instructions from Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Huzaifa through encrypted apps and was operating his network from Bangladesh. According to the investigating agencies, Shabbir’s terrorist journey is not new, but is almost two decades old. Officials said that he had come in contact with Lashkar-e-Taiba in the year 2004 itself. Shabbir, a resident of Kangan village in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, initially used to arrange logistics and food for the terrorists of the organization.
According to sources, during that time he met the dreaded Lashkar terrorists Abu Huzaifa, Abu Bakar and Faisal. After coming in contact with these terrorists, Abu Huzaifa included him in the organization. Since then, Shabbir remained continuously active in terrorist activities and gradually became an important part of the network. The investigation also revealed that he was in touch with his handlers on encrypted platforms using modern technology, making it challenging for agencies to trace his activities.
These buildings of Delhi are on target
During the interrogation of terrorist Shabbir Ahmed Lone, arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, the conspiracy that shook the capital has been exposed. Investigation has revealed that Lashkar-e-Taiba had planned to target the busiest religious places and markets of Delhi. During interrogation, Shabbir revealed that a detailed recce was conducted at Kalkaji Temple, Lotus Temple and Chhatarpur Temple. There were preparations to carry out a major attack by gathering complete information about these places. Not only this, videos of crowded areas like Connaught Place were also sent to the handlers sitting in Pakistan.
After these revelations, security agencies are on high alert and security has been tightened in all sensitive areas of the capital. Another serious international conspiracy has been revealed during the investigation. Shabbir told that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and top terrorists of Lashkar are now trying to make Bangladesh their new operation centre. Under this, a new terrorist organization is being formed on the lines of ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF), in which the youth of Bangladesh are being recruited.
According to sources, this network is being operated by a terrorist named Sajjad Gul, who has earlier gone to jail with Shabbir. Presently he is handling this new front sitting in Pakistan and is playing an active role in carrying out terrorist activities in Kashmir.
Sajjad Gul and Shabbir’s connection
According to officials, in 2015, Shabbir Ahmed and notorious terrorist Sajjad Gul were arrested together in Kashmir. However, after being released from jail, both of them parted ways. Sajjad Gul fled to Pakistan, while Shabbir was shifted to Bangladesh. It is being told that Shabbir remained underground for a long time in Bangladesh and recently became active again. During this time, he started working for the Lashkar-e-Taiba network and started preparing to execute a terrorist conspiracy in India. According to the investigating agencies, Sajjad Gul is currently leading anti-India operations sitting in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of lakhs of rupees on him, so that his search can be intensified.
Was also arrested in 2007
In 2007, Shabbir was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Explosive Substances Act. During that time a huge quantity of weapons and explosive material was recovered from him. In this case the court had sentenced him to six years. However, there was no change in his behavior after his release from jail. Investigation has revealed that instead of adopting the path of reform, he started strengthening his terrorist network. He remained in constant touch with Lashkar-e-Taiba and other terrorist organizations.
‘Launching pad’ and second marriage in Bangladesh
Interrogation of terrorist Shabbir Ahmed Lone has revealed that in the year 2025, this module had made a major change in its strategy. According to the investigating agencies, this network associated with Lashkar had made Bangladesh a new base to carry out the conspiracy of attacks in India. According to sources, on the instructions of Sumama Babar, Shabbir along with his wife and children crossed the border illegally and reached Saidpur in Bangladesh. There he prepared a ‘launching pad’ for terrorist activities. To hide his identity in the local society and avoid detection, he also married a Bangladeshi woman despite being already married.
Investigation has revealed that Shabbir, while living in Bangladesh, started involving youth from West Bengal and other states in his network. In this series, he also trapped Umar Farooq, a resident of Gurugram, who later became a co-accused in the ‘Supreme Court Metro’ case. According to the agencies, Shabbir had entered India illegally through Nepal, so that he could escape the attention of security agencies. After this he started reactivating his network in the country.
During a covert operation of the Special Cell in February 2026, 8 members of this module were arrested. These included 7 Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian, Omar Farooq. This action is being considered a major success in breaking this network. Investigation has also revealed that the main accused Shabbir Lone belongs to a middle class family. He studied only till 8th class and then did Islamic course from Salafia Arabic College in Batamaloo.
