Big allegation of ball tampering on Fakhar Zaman in PSL 2026, suspension for 2 matches
Delhi: The ball tampering controversy once again came into limelight in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. This matter is related to Lahore Qalandars opener Fakhar Zaman. This incident occurred on March 29 during the sixth match played between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings. Before the last over of the match, the umpires suspected that Fakhar had tampered with the ball.
Umpires’ actions and penalties
When the umpires examined the ball, Fakhar’s team was penalized 5 runs and the ball of that over was changed. Karachi Kings had to score 14 runs in 6 balls to win, but after the penalty the team needed only 9 runs. Karachi Kings won the match by scoring the required runs in the first three balls.

PCB suspended
Considering the seriousness of the matter, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found Fakhar Zaman guilty of Level-3 ball tampering. Fakhar has been suspended for two matches. Fakhar had denied the allegations against him during the hearing, but the board found Fakhar guilty and imposed suspension.

Due to this suspension, Fakhar Zaman will not be able to play for Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming two matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United. The umpires included field umpire Shahid Saikat, Faisal Khan Afridi, TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rashid, who registered a case of ball tampering.
This controversy once again raises questions on the fairness of the game and adherence to rules in PSL 2026.
