Big change in census… Live-in couple will also get married identity, know the condition

Tezzbuzz Desk – Preparations for the next census have intensified in the country and its process is going to start soon. This time many important changes will be seen in the census. The most important thing is that live-in couples living together in a “steady relationship” can also be registered as married couples.

Live-in couple will get recognition

According to the guidelines of the self-enumeration portal linked to the census, if a couple considers their relationship stable, then they will be counted in the category of married. Earlier also in such cases, if the couple described themselves as married, they were recorded as such.

Information will be recorded without proof

A major feature of this process is that people will not need to provide any kind of documentary evidence for their answers. Census officials will record only the information that family members tell them. Its aim is to make the process easy and reliable.

A total of 33 questions will be asked in the houselisting phase of the census, of which one question will be related to the number of married couples living in the household. This phase will last for about 45 days.

Self-enumeration facility

This time people are also being given the facility to fill their information themselves.

  • This process will be done through an online portal
  • People will be able to fill the information themselves for 15 days
  • After this, officials will go door-to-door and collect data for 30 days.

Self-enumeration will require mobile based verification (OTP) and any responsible adult member of the household can complete the process.

Location will be determined through geotagging

While filling the form, it will be mandatory to enter the correct location of the house. For this, geotagging based map will be used, in which the exact location of the house will have to be marked. Entering wrong location may cause problems in entering data.

According to officials, all the data related to the census will be encrypted and stored on secure government servers. Special emphasis has been laid on making the entire process simple and digital.
